Is there a website version of the app?

No. BorrowBase is a mobile-only product by design — the safety features (SecureMeetup QR scanning, evidence capture) depend on being in person with a phone in your hand.

What is SecureMeetup?

A one-time QR code generated at the time and place of the handoff. Both parties must scan it for the rental to officially start or end. It prevents fake handoffs and "I never got the item back" disputes.

What if the other person damages my item?

Both parties capture photos at pickup and return. If condition has changed, you file a claim and our team reviews the evidence. Deposit holds are released or captured based on what the photos show.

How are deposits handled?

Through Stripe Connect with manual capture — the money is authorized on the borrower's card but not actually charged unless a damage claim is approved. Trusted users may qualify for reduced or no deposit holds.

What does BorrowBase charge?

A 12% platform fee, split evenly: 6% paid by the renter and 6% paid by the lender. No subscriptions, no listing fees.

How do lenders get paid?

Through Stripe Connect, directly to a connected bank account, after the rental completes successfully.

How old do I have to be to use BorrowBase?

Why do you need so much information at signup?

Verification is what makes the platform safe. The more we can confirm about who someone really is, the better trust decisions we can make for everyone.

How is my privacy protected?

Public profiles only ever show a first name and last initial. Private data (full name, contact info, address) is never exposed to other users. Read more in our Privacy Policy.

What if I have a disagreement with the other party?

File a dispute in the app and our team will review the photo evidence captured at pickup and return. We resolve based on what was documented, not on who's more persuasive.

Can I get my deposit back faster?

Accepted Answer

Deposits release automatically after a successful return is confirmed. If a claim is filed, the hold remains until the dispute is resolved.
